Academy of Vocal Arts
Giargiari Competition
October 3, 2026
One of the things we love most at the High Note Society is discovering great singers, and the Academy of Vocal Arts’ Giargiari Bel Canto Competition is a terrific opportunity to hear some extraordinary young voices at the beginning of their careers.
AVA’s Resident Artists compete before a panel of distinguished judges, but there’s a particularly fun reason for HNS friends to be there: we get a vote, too! Everyone in the audience can cast a ballot for the Audience Prize and help select one of the evening’s winners.
Want to make an evening of it? Join us at Estia beforehand! We have a 5:00 p.m. reservation for 20 HNS friends at Estia, just across the street from the Kimmel Center. Estia will offer a prix fixe menu for our group, and you should plan on approximately $75 per person for dinner and beverages. Advance registration is required for dinner.
Dinner is completely optional. Whether or not you join us at Estia, we hope you’ll come hear some terrific young singers at Giargiari! Tickets for the competition should be purchased directly through the Kimmel Center.

Let’s spend an evening celebrating one of the things we love most at the High Note Society: great singing! We’ll gather for a Philadelphia Chamber Music Society recital featuring acclaimed American baritone Justin Austin.
Come early, because HNS founder Mike Bolton will be giving the pre-concert talk before the performance. Then we’ll settle in for an evening of song and the chance to experience a terrific singer in the intimacy of a recital.

The High Note Society heads to The Haverford School to hear the Resident Artists of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Donizetti’s delightful L’elisir d’amore.
It’s a perfect HNS opera outing: comedy, romance, gorgeous bel canto singing, and one of the most famous tenor arias in all of opera. We’ll enjoy the performance together in The Haverford School’s wonderful performance space, with the added bonus of free parking!

We’ll bring our High Note Society season toward a close with Verdi at full throttle! Join HNS friends at The Haverford School as the Resident Artists of the Academy of Vocal Arts take on Verdi’s Il trovatore.
For a group that loves great voices, it’s hard to imagine a more fitting way to end the season. Verdi asks just about everything of his singers in Il trovatore, and we’ll get to experience those young voices together.
